The 24th Meeting of China-Denmark Joint Economic and Trade Commission Held in Wuhan, Hubei Province

On the afternoon of October 15, Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce of China and Deputy China International Trade Representative, and Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen, Permanent Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, co-chaired the 24th meeting of the China-Denmark Joint Economic and Trade Commission in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

Ling Ji noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the China-Denmark comprehensive strategic partnership has been steadily deepened and consolidated. Bilateral trade has grown steadily, two-way investment remains dynamic, and cooperation in areas such as pharmaceuticals and healthcare, shipping and logistics, and green and low-carbon development has yielded notable results. China welcomes Danish enterprises to further deepen their engagement in the Chinese market and share the vast opportunities presented by Chinese modernization. China also supports Chinese companies in investing in Denmark and hopes that the Danish side will provide a fair, open, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese investors.

Ling Ji emphasized that the current international situation is complex and challenging. As the current President of the Council of the European Union, Denmark can play a constructive role in encouraging the EU to pull in the same direction with China to properly manage economic and trade frictions and jointly uphold the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its core.

Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen stated that China is a major economic and trading partner for Denmark. The Danish government has always upheld free trade and safeguarded the multilateral trading system. Denmark-China trade continues to grow steadily, and many Danish companies regard China as a strategic market. Denmark welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country and hopes to further deepen bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, agri-food, shipping, and green and low-carbon sectors. In its capacity as the current President of the Council of the European Union, Denmark stands ready to promote practical EU-China cooperation and resolve trade frictions through dialogue and consultation.

Representatives from relevant enterprises of the two countries also attended the meeting and delivered remarks.
