MOFCOM holds roundtable for European enterprises

On January 21, Deputy China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji hosted the roundtable for European companies, listening to their concerns and suggestions. The roundtable was also joined by representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the National Medical Products Administration and so forth.

Ling Ji said that China-EU economic and trade cooperation has a solid foundation, with the production, supply and value chains deeply integrated with each other, boasting great momentum and potential for cooperation. China has not only a dynamic large-scale market, but also complete industrial and supply chains, concentrated innovation resources and rich application scenarios, making it an important part of the global market that is well suited for long-term investment of European enterprises. European businesses are welcome to give full play to their own advantages and improve their competitiveness by investing and deepening footprint in China. MOFCOM will constantly provide good services for Foreign Invested Enterprises (FIEs), including European enterprises, to invest and operate in China.

The meeting was joined by representatives from more than 70 FIEs such as BNP Paribas, Eni, Roche Diagnostics, Novartis, Ikea, SAP, Traton, Nokia, and representatives of business associations such as the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, the German Chamber of Commerce in China, the French Chamber of Commerce in China, the China-Britain Business Council, the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in China, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China and so on. The representatives expressed their willingness to contribute to the further deepening of China-EU economic and trade cooperation, and their opposition to decoupling and supply chains disruption. They would like to deepen their footprint in the Chinese market in the long term and share in the development opportunities.

Before the meeting, Ling Ji met with President of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Jens Eskelund.
