Meeting of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Sub-Committee of China-Belarus Governmental Cooperation Committee and Meeting of the Coordination Working Team of China-Belarus Industrial Park are held in Minsk

On July 19, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji, and Belarusian Economic Minister Yuri Chebotar, jointly hosted the Eighth Meeting of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Sub-Committee of China-Belarus Governmental Cooperation Committee and the 15th Meeting of the Coordination Working Team of China-Belarus Industrial Park.

Vice Minister Ling said that under the strategic guidance of the two presidents, China-Belarus economic and trade cooperation has witnessed sound and stable development in recent years and enjoys a promising prospect. China stands ready to work with Belarus to implement important consensus reached between the two leaders, strengthen policy communication, continue improving trade structure, increase imports of high quality products from Belarus to China, consolidate investment cooperation, carry out economic and technological projects in a highly effective manner, and deepen sub-national cooperation between the two countries.

Vice Minister Ling said that the China-Belarus Industrial Park is a representative project of the Belt and Road Initiative. In recent years, both sides have overcome impacts of the pandemic and external headwinds and helped improve various economic indicators of the Industrial Park. Last year, the number of new companies, the scale of investment, and revenues of companies inside the Industrial Park all hit a new record high, which have all been important for improving bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Both sides will push for new breakthroughs in areas including green and low-carbon development, digital economy, intelligent creation and technological innovation, making new contribution to the high quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Yuri Chebotar said that China is the second largest trading partner of Belarus, and Belarus highly values the economic and trade cooperation with China. Belarus welcomes China to ramp up its investment in Belarus in sectors such as mechanical manufacturing, medical equipment and pharmacy, and agro-product processing. Belarus will keep on improving the business environment of the Industrial Park, support the development of start-ups, expand cooperation in infrastructure, e-commerce, transportation and logistics, to achieve fruitful results in the Belarus-China Belt and Road cooperation.

After the meeting, both sides jointly signed the Minutes of the Eighth Meeting of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Sub-Committee of China-Belarus Governmental Cooperation Committee and the Minutes of the 15th Meeting of the Coordination Working Team of China-Belarus Industrial Park.
