Ninth Meeting of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Sub-Committee of China-Belarus Governmental Cooperation Committee Held in Beijing

On May 7, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji and Minister of Economy of Belarus Yuri Chebotar cochaired the ninth meeting of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Sub-Committee of China-Belarus Governmental Cooperation Committee in Beijing.

Ling noted, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Belarus all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership has been deepening, with bilateral economic and trade cooperation developing healthily and steadily, the scale of trade continuously expanding, increasingly active investment from Chinese businesses in Belarus, and close sub-national economic and trade exchanges. China and Belarus have deepened cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and the China-Belarus Industrial Park has formulated a five-year development plan, with its level of development steadily improved. China is ready to strengthen position coordination with Belarus, jointly oppose protectionism, unilateralism and the indiscriminate tariff bullying of the U.S., safeguard the multilateral trading system and international fairness and justice, and maintain the security and stability of the two countries’ industrial and supply chains.

Chebotar said that the economic and trade cooperation between China and Belarus is of strategic significance to the economic development and improvement of people’s livelihood in Belarus. Belarus is ready to expand the export of potash and other advantageous products to China, improve the business environment, and jointly build a successful China-Belarus Industrial Park. Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest and prosper in the country, participate in infrastructure construction, and deepen cooperation in the fields of machinery manufacturing, automobiles, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, and agri-food processing. Belarus is ready to work with China to safeguard the multilateral trading system and the stability of the global industrial and supply chains, and oppose trade protectionism and unilateralism.
