The 25th Session of the China-Finland Joint Economic and Trade Commission Held in Helsinki

On the morning of September 18, the 25th Session of the China-Finland Joint Economic and Trade Commission was co-chaired by Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji and Permanent Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland Jarno Syrjala in Helsinki. Chinese Ambassador to Finland Wang Tongqing attended the meeting.

Ling Ji stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Finland. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, China-Finland economic and trade cooperation has developed in a positive direction, with the future-oriented and new type cooperative partnership full of vitality. China’s economy continues to maintain steady growth and China’s door of openness will only open wider, which will provide broad development opportunities for enterprises from Finland and other countries. He suggested that both sides should fully utilize the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation to actively expand cooperation in fields including clean energy technology, circular economy, health technology, information technology, and artificial intelligence. China encourages capable Chinese enterprises to invest in Finland and hopes Finland will provide a fair, open, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese-invested enterprises. China is willing to work with Finland to uphold the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic relations, deepen policy communication, and jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core.

Syrjala noted that China is one of Finland’s most important economic and trade partners. The Finnish government remains committed to free trade and supports the multilateral trading system. Finland welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country and encourages Finnish companies to deepen their presence in the Chinese market. The two sides are encouraged to strengthen cooperation in sustainable development, agri-food products, and healthcare, so as to further consolidate and deepen the China-Finland economic and trade relationship.
